2018 Camp Dates and Themes for Little Seeds (Ages 3-5 1/2)

Our summer camp offers programs for three age groups:  ages 3-5 1/2, ages 5 ½-8 and ages 9-12. Our daily schedules are designed to support the developmental needs of the growing child from early childhood through early adolescence. We believe our multi-age camps provide the habitat for children to grow, develop a more enriching sense of community, instill the virtue of compassion, and serve the needs of all of our campers regardless of age and skill level.

Our summer programs Little Seeds (Ages 3-5 1/2), Farm & Forest Friends (Ages 5 ½ - 8), and Sowers & Growers (Ages 9-12) operate independently within our camp facility.  The age groups have different rotating activities to focus on age-appropriate skills and educational learning opportunities. Campers ages 5 ½ - 12 can intermingle during meals and free play time and will be together for special presentations and large group activities.

Barnyard Bunch Before & Aftercare Program is available upon request for an additional cost for campers ages 3-5 1/2. This program operates from 7:30 - 9 am and 3:30 - 6 pm.  The cost is $7/day if registered before the start of the session or drop-in as space permits for a cost of $10/day.

Little Seeds Pre-Season Family Drop In
Date:  Wednesday, June 6th from 3 pm – 6 pm
Our Little Seeds campers (and parents) sometimes have a bit of anxiety about the first day of camp. This drop-in event provides a relaxed setting for you and your child(ren) to meet teachers and staff, play in our outdoor classroom, explore the camp facility, and meet and greet our farm animals. At this event, you can ask questions about our summer program, become familiar with camp procedures, and pave the way for a rewarding summer camp experience!

Price for Little Seeds Program:

Heritage Creek Farm Camp strives to make summer camp experiences affordable to as many campers as possible.  If you are unable to pay camp fees, please see details about our TAPROOT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM which allows families to volunteer time on the farm in exchange for a reduction in session fees.  If your family desires to support HCFC over and above the session fees, please see details about contributing to funds that support our yearly projects.

To make the registration and payment process easier, this year we are requiring a deposit to be paid at time of registration, and that the remaining balance paid in full by May 15, 2018.  If you are registering for multiple weeks and this is financially difficult, please contact our Administrative Office at info@heritagecreekfarmcamp.com to discuss other possible payment arrangements.

2018 Camp Theme Descriptions:

June 11-15 Baa Baa White Sheep See Online Registration for availability
Our ewes will be the star of the show as we explore the barnyard and learn how Heidi and Sue make wool for me and you! Farm-based activities include feeding the sheep, washing wool, and making a sheep craft.  This session is sure to have campers saying they want to come ‘baaack”!

June 18-22 ‘Round the Mulberry Bush -
In this “wild about berries” session, campers will head to the blueberry patch to harvest berries and shake mulberries from the trees. Baking blueberry muffins with the Muffin Man and creating a blueberry bean bag will round out this “berry” special week!

June 25-29 The Calves Jump Over the Moon
This week, our special guest on the farm will be a dairy cow, and campers will learn about the origin of milk.  Farm-based activities will include bottle feeding our baby calves, and working together to make butter.  The full moon will inspire our craft project.  This session is sure to be “udderly” amazing!

July 2 & 3 Three Billy Goats are Enough ****New session just added!  Online registration

This two day session will highlight our goats - Sunny, Glacier and Ollie Pippen!  Campers will get the opportunity to feed our billy goats and enjoy splash day on the bridge by the creek!

July 9-13 Little Red Hen - ALL SESSIONS FULL
In this session, campers will visit our corn field and learn about the life cycle of sweet corn.  Our farm-based activities will include grinding corn, baking corn muffins, getting up close and personal with the Little Red Hen, and making a chicken craft.  From field to fork, there will be many occasions for our farm friends to learn to share in the work load.

July 16-20 The Enormous Potato -

Inspired by the book written by Aubrey Davis, campers will help Farmer John dig potatoes in the field and wash these spuds for our weekly Market Stand.  Farm-fresh french fries will be one of our snacks.  Making a potato sock craft will round our "spudtastic" week!

July 23-27 Pignic - ALL SESSIONS FULL

Join our baby pigs as we hold our annual Pignic on the farm. Campers will be as happy as pigs in mud as they sing pigtastic songs, make a pig craft, enjoy some good old fashion hog-washing and make mud pies by the creek. Dirty hands and snouts is what this session is all about!

July 30 – August 3 Tomato Fairy - ALL SESSIONS FULL
The uplifting and whimsical book written by Sandra Jean Sanders will inspire the imagination of our little farm hands this week.  Campers will head to the “tomato forest” to pick juicy, ripe fruit and search for signs of Tomato Fairies! Making a colorful tomato suncatcher will be our craft.

August 6-10
Apple Star -

The story How the Apple got its Star will be one of our farm-based stories this week as we visit the apple tree, wash apples, and make homemade apple sauce for snack. Apple boats will make our splash day lots of fun and our “I love apples to the core” craft will round out our summer sessions on the farm.

No session week of August 13-17

***Please note the activities described above are for the 5-day program.  If you child is attending a 2-day or 3-day session, they will participate in a variety of themed-based activities, but will not have the opportunity to do all the activities listed. ***

Five day, three day, and two day programs

Full day 9 am - 3:30 pm or Half day 9 am - 1 pm

Campers should be 3 years old at time of session and must be potty trained to attend our Little Seeds program.

In many cases, summer camp is the first time little ones will be away from their parents. Although we accept campers as young as age 3, it is important that parents evaluate the readiness of their child(ren) to attend before registering for summer camp.  We are unable to refund tuition for non-attendance for any reason during the camp session.

Child development is as unique as each individual child.  If your child is accustom to a school setting, comfortable interacting with older children, and enjoys free playtime, please check out our Farm & Forest Friends Program for ages 5 ½ - 8. Campers enrolled in Farm & Forest Friends should have a developed level of independence in self care skills such as changing clothes, tying shoes, and using bathroom facilities. Feel free to contact our camp office if you have questions about which program might best serve your child.
